Esther 4:1

Apabila Mordekhai mengetahui segala yang berlaku itu dia mengoyakkan pakaiannya lalu memakai pakaian perkabungan dan abu Keluarlah dia ke tengah-tengah kota sambil berteriak-teriak dengan nyaring dan pedih

dia menyuruh agar disampaikan jawapan ini kepada Ester Jangan sangka kerana kamu berada di dalam istana raja hanya kamu daripada antara orang Yahudi yang kelak terlepas

Mordekhai memang menonjol di dalam istana raja dan kemasyhurannya tersebar ke seluruh wilayah lantaran pengaruhnya semakin besar
