Kemudian berkatalah Elisa Apakah yang dapat kuperbuat baginya Jawab Gehazi Ah ia tidak mempunyai anak dan suaminya sudah tua

Maka berkatalah Elisa kepada Gehazi Ikatlah pinggangmu bawalah tongkatku di tanganmu dan pergilah Apabila engkau bertemu dengan seseorang janganlah beri salam kepadanya dan apabila seseorang memberi salam kepadamu janganlah balas dia kemudian taruhlah tongkatku ini di atas anak itu

Adapun Gehazi telah berjalan mendahului mereka dan telah menaruh tongkat di atas anak itu tetapi tidak ada suara dan tidak ada tanda hidup Lalu kembalilah ia menemui Elisa serta memberitahukan kepadanya katanya Anak itu tidak bangun

Kemudian Elisa memanggil Gehazi dan berkata Panggillah perempuan Sunem itu Dipanggilnyalah dia lalu datanglah ia kepadanya maka berkatalah Elisa Angkatlah anakmu ini

Tetapi berkatalah Elisa Ambillah tepung Dilemparkannyalah itu ke dalam kuali serta berkata Cedoklah sekarang bagi orang-orang ini supaya mereka makan Maka tidak ada lagi sesuatu bahaya dalam kuali itu

Datanglah seseorang dari Baal-Salisa dengan membawa bagi abdi Allah roti hulu hasil yaitu dua puluh roti jelai serta gandum baru dalam sebuah kantong Lalu berkatalah Elisa Berilah itu kepada orang-orang ini supaya mereka makan

Kemudian kembalilah ia dengan seluruh pasukannya kepada abdi Allah itu Setelah sampai tampillah ia ke depan Elisa dan berkata Sekarang aku tahu bahwa di seluruh bumi tidak ada Allah kecuali di Israel Karena itu terimalah kiranya suatu pemberian dari hambamu ini
