Setelah rakyat yang berkemah itu mendengar orang mengatakan Zimri telah mengadakan persepakatan dan iapun telah membunuh raja maka pada hari itu juga di tempat perkemahan seluruh Israel menobatkan Omri panglima tentara menjadi raja atas Israel
