Esau menaruh dendam kepada Yakub karena berkat yang telah diberikan oleh ayahnya kepadanya lalu ia berkata kepada dirinya sendiri Hari-hari berkabung karena kematian ayahku itu tidak akan lama lagi pada waktu itulah Yakub adikku akan kubunuh
