Demikianlah mereka meninggalkan TUHAN dan beribadah kepada Baal dan para Asytoret

Orang Israel itu melakukan pula apa yang jahat di mata TUHAN mereka beribadah kepada para Baal dan para Asytoret kepada para allah orang Aram para allah orang Sidon para allah orang Moab para allah bani Amon dan para allah orang Filistin tetapi TUHAN ditinggalkan mereka dan kepada Dia mereka tidak beribadah

1 Samuel 7:3

Lalu berkatalah Samuel kepada seluruh kaum Israel demikian Jika kamu berbalik kepada TUHAN dengan segenap hati maka jauhkanlah para allah asing dan para Asytoret dari tengah-tengahmu dan tujukan hatimu kepada TUHAN dan beribadahlah hanya kepada-Nya maka Ia akan melepaskan kamu dari tangan orang Filistin

Kemudian orang-orang Israel menjauhkan para Baal dan para Asytoret dan beribadah hanya kepada TUHAN

Mereka berseru-seru kepada TUHAN katanya Kami telah berdosa sebab kami telah meninggalkan TUHAN dan beribadah kepada para Baal dan para Asytoret maka sekarang lepaskanlah kami dari tangan musuh kami maka kami akan beribadah kepada-Mu
