Deuteronomy 20:19

Apabila dalam memerangi suatu kota engkau lama mengepungnya untuk direbut maka tidak boleh engkau merusakkan pohon-pohon sekelilingnya dengan mengayunkan kapak kepadanya buahnya boleh kaumakan tetapi batangnya janganlah kautebang sebab pohon yang di padang itu bukan manusia jadi tidak patut ikut kaukepung

Jeremiah 34:10

Maka semua pemuka dan segenap rakyat yang ikut serta dalam perjanjian itu menyetujui bahwa setiap orang akan melepaskan budaknya laki-laki dan budaknya perempuan sebagai orang merdeka sehingga tidak ada lagi yang memperbudak mereka Orang-orang itu menyetujuinya lalu melepaskan mereka
