Pada pergantian tahun pada waktu raja-raja biasanya maju berperang maka Yoab membawa keluar bala tentaranya lalu ia memusnahkan negeri bani Amon kemudian ia maju dan mengepung kota Raba sedang Daud sendiri tinggal di Yerusalem Yoab memukul kalah Raba dan meruntuhkannya
