Ketika Daud tiba di Mahanaim datanglah Sobi anak Nahas dari Raba kota bani Amon bersama Makhir anak Amiel dari Lodebar dan Barzilai orang Gilead dari Rogelim

Barzilai orang Gilead itu juga datang dari Rogelim Dia turut menyeberangi Sungai Yordan bersama-sama raja demi menghantarnya sampai ke seberang sungai

Pada waktu itu Barzilai sudah sangat tua usianya lapan puluh tahun Selama raja tinggal di Mahanaim dia menyediakan keperluan baginda kerana dia seorang yang sangat kaya

Kata raja kepada Barzilai Menyeberanglah bersamaku Aku akan menyediakan segala keperluanmu bersamaku di Yerusalem

Kata Barzilai kepada raja Berapa lamakah lagi hamba hidup sehingga hamba harus pergi bersama Raja ke Yerusalem

Kemudian seluruh rakyat itu menyeberangi Sungai Yordan bersama raja Raja mencium Barzilai dan memohonkan berkat baginya lalu pulanglah Barzilai ke tempatnya
