Kata Saul Katakanlah kepada Daud begini Raja tidak menghendaki mahar selain seratus keping kulit kulup orang Filistin sebagai pembalasan kepada musuh-musuh raja Sesungguhnya Saul berharap akan tumpaslah hendaknya Daud di tangan orang Filistin

AV: And Saul <07586> said <0559> (8799), Thus shall ye say <0559> (8799) to David <01732>, The king <04428> desireth <02656> not any dowry <04119>, but an hundred <03967> foreskins <06190> of the Philistines <06430>, to be avenged <05358> (8736) of the king's <04428> enemies <0341> (8802). But Saul <07586> thought <02803> (8804) to make David <01732> fall <05307> (8687) by the hand <03027> of the Philistines <06430>.

Daud bergegas pergi bersama-sama para pejuangnya lalu mereka menewaskan dua ratus orang Filistin Daud membawa kulit kulup mereka dan mempersembahkan kesemuanya kepada raja iaitu memenuhi syarat untuk menjadi menantu raja Maka Saul memberikan puterinya Mikhal untuk diperisteri oleh Daud

Kemudian Daud mengirim beberapa orang utusan kepada Isyboset anak Saul dengan pesan Serahkanlah isteriku Mikhal yang telah dipertunangkan kepadaku dengan seratus keping kulit kulup orang Filistin
