1 Samuel 1:3

Setiap tahun lelaki itu pergi dari kotanya untuk beribadat dan mempersembahkan korban di hadapan Tuhan alam semesta di Silo Kedua-dua orang anak Eli iaitu Hofni dan Pinehas ialah imam Tuhan di sana

Hal yang akan menimpa kedua-dua orang anakmu Hofni dan Pinehas akan menjadi tanda bagimu pada hari yang sama kedua-duanya akan mati

Mereka pun menyuruh beberapa orang ke Silo untuk membawa tabut perjanjian Tuhan alam semesta yang bersemayam di atas para kerubin Kedua-dua orang anak Eli iaitu Hofni dan Pinehas mengiring tabut perjanjian Allah itu

1 Samuel 4:11

Selain itu tabut Allah pun dirampas dan kedua-dua anak Eli iaitu Hofni dan Pinehas terbunuh

Jawab pembawa khabar itu Orang Israel kalah teruk dan lari dari hadapan orang Filistin bahkan ramai warga kita yang terkorban Kedua-dua orang anak tuan Hofni dan Pinehas mati juga dan tabut Allah telah dirampas oleh musuh
