Nama lelaki itu Elimelekh dan isterinya Naomi dan nama dua orang anak lelakinya Mahlon dan Kilyon Mereka itu warga Efrata dari Betlehem di Yehuda Setelah tiba di bumi Moab mereka pun mendiami tempat itu

Lalu bersiap-siaplah Naomi bersama-sama kedua-dua orang menantunya untuk pulang dari bumi Moab kerana di bumi Moab itu dia terdengar khabar bahawa Tuhan telah memperhatikan umat-Nya serta memberikan makanan kepada mereka

Demikianlah Naomi pulang bersama-sama Rut perempuan bani Moab menantunya yang turut pulang dari bumi Moab Dan mereka tiba di Betlehem pada permulaan musim menuai barli

Ketua pekerja para penuai itu pun menjawab Perempuan bani Moab ini pulang bersama-sama Naomi dari bumi Moab

Lalu berkatalah dia kepada kerabat terdekat Naomi itu Naomi yang pulang dari bumi Moab perlu menjual tanah yang menjadi milik saudara kita Elimelekh
