Judges 18:7

Pergilah kelima-lima orang itu lalu mereka tiba di Lais Di situ mereka melihat warganya hidup aman tenteram menurut adat orang Sidon dan selamat Warga di situ tidak kekurangan apa-apa pun dan tiada sesiapa yang memperkotak-katikkan kehidupan mereka Mereka tinggal jauh daripada orang Sidon dan tidak bergaul dengan sesiapa pun

Judges 18:14

Lalu kelima-lima orang yang pergi mengintai keadaan di daerah Lais itu berkata kepada saudara-mara mereka Tahukah kamu bahawa di rumah-rumah ini ada efod berhala yang disembah patung pahatan dan patung tuangan Maka kini kamu tahu apa yang perlu kamu lakukan

Judges 18:27

Demikianlah bani Dan membawa barang-barang yang dibuat oleh Mikha dan imamnya Seterusnya mereka mendatangi Lais yang rakyatnya hidup dengan aman tenteram serta menyerang umat di situ dengan mata pedang dan membakar kota mereka

Kota yang sebelum itu bernama Lais itu dinamakan mereka Dan sempena nama bapa leluhur mereka iaitu Dan yang lahir bagi Israel
