Abimelekh dan seluruh rakyat yang bersama-samanya pun mendaki Gunung Zalmon Lalu dengan kapak di tangannya Abimelekh memotong dan kemudian memikul dahan-dahan kayu di atas bahunya sambil berkata kepada rakyatnya yang bersama-samanya Lihat apa yang aku buat dan ikutilah perbuatanku

Maka umat yang bersama-samanya turut memotong serta memikul dahan-dahan kayu kemudian mereka mengikuti Abimelekh untuk meletakkan dahan-dahan itu di atas ruang dalam lalu membakar kesemuanya Maka mati terbakarlah semua penduduk kota Menara-Sikhem seramai kira-kira seribu orang lelaki dan perempuan
