Joshua 20:6

Hendaklah dia tinggal di kota itu sampai dia dihadapkan kepada majlis umat untuk diadili dan sampai imam besar yang hidup pada masa itu meninggal Setelah itu barulah pembunuh itu boleh pulang ke rumahnya di kotanya iaitu ke kota asalnya sebelum dia melarikan diri

Joshua 20:9

Itulah kota-kota yang ditentukan bagi seluruh orang Israel dan bagi para pendatang yang tinggal di tengah-tengah mereka supaya sesiapa pun yang membunuh seseorang secara tidak sengaja dapat melarikan diri ke sana dan tidak dibunuh oleh orang yang menuntut balasan darah sebelum dia dihadapkan kepada majlis umat
