Mereka menawan kota itu pada hari itu juga dan menumpaskan penduduknya dengan mata pedang Setiap jiwa yang ada di dalamnya ditumpasnya pada hari itu seperti semua yang dilakukannya terhadap Lakhis

Demikianlah Yosua mengalahkan seluruh negeri itu pergunungan Tanah Negeb dataran rendah lereng-lereng gunung berserta semua raja mereka Tiada seorang pun dibiarkannya hidup melainkan ditumpasnya semua yang bernafas seperti yang diperintahkan Tuhan Allah Israel
