maka sangat ketakutanlah mereka memandangkan Gibeon sebuah kota raya besar seperti salah sebuah kota raya diraja Apatah lagi kota itu lebih besar daripada Ai dan semua orangnya pahlawan belaka

Datanglah ke mari dan bantulah aku Mari kita serang Gibeon yang telah mengadakan perjanjian damai dengan Yosua dan orang Israel

Maka rakyat Gibeon mengutus orang kepada Yosua ke perkhemahannya di Gilgal dengan pesan Janganlah tuan biarkan hamba-hambamu ini Datanglah dengan segera Selamatkanlah kami dan bantulah kami kerana semua raja bani Amori yang tinggal di pergunungan kini bergabung untuk menyerang kami
