Semua orang Israel baik pendatang mahupun warga asli bersama tua-tua mereka para pegawai pasukan mereka dan para hakim mereka berdiri di sebelah kiri dan kanan tabut itu di hadapan para imam Lewi yang mengusung tabut perjanjian Tuhan Sesetengah daripada mereka menghadap Gunung Gerizim dan sesetengah lagi menghadap Gunung Ebal sebagaimana yang diperintahkan sebelumnya oleh Musa hamba Tuhan itu untuk memberkati orang Israel
