Deuteronomy 4:42

supaya seorang yang membunuh sesamanya tanpa sengaja dan tanpa membenci orang itu sebelumnya dapat melarikan diri ke sana Jika dia melarikan diri ke salah sebuah kota itu maka dia dapat tetap hidup

Inilah peruntukan bagi pembunuh yang melarikan diri ke sana untuk menyelamatkan nyawanya Seandainya dia membunuh sesama manusia tanpa sengaja dan tanpa membenci orang itu sebelumnya

Joshua 20:3

supaya orang yang membunuh seseorang tanpa sengaja dan tanpa ada niat sebelumnya dapat melarikan diri ke sana Kota-kota itu akan menjadi tempat perlindungan bagimu terhadap orang yang hendak menuntut balasan darah

Jika orang yang menuntut balasan darah itu mengejarnya mereka tidak boleh menyerahkan pembunuh ke tangannya kerana dia telah membunuh sesamanya tanpa ada niat dan tanpa membenci orang itu sebelumnya

Job 24:10
