Genesis 20:4

Pada waktu itu Abimelekh belum menghampiri Sarah Maka katanya Ya Tuhan akankah Engkau membunuh bangsa yang tidak bersalah

Genesis 20:8

Keesokan harinya Abimelekh bangun pagi-pagi lalu memanggil semua hambanya dan memberitahukan semua hal itu kepada mereka Maka mereka menjadi sangat takut

Kata Abimelekh pula kepada Abraham Apakah maksudmu sehingga kamu berbuat demikian

Kemudian Abimelekh mengambil kawanan domba kawanan lembu serta hamba-hamba lelaki dan perempuan dan memberikan semua itu kepada Abraham Dia pun mengembalikan kepadanya Sarah isteri Abraham itu

Maka Abraham mengambil beberapa ekor domba dan beberapa ekor lembu daripada ternakannya lalu memberikannya kepada Abimelekh dan dengan itu kedua-duanya mengikat perjanjian

Setelah mereka mengikat perjanjian di Bersyeba bersiaplah Abimelekh dan Pikhol panglima tenteranya lalu kembalilah mereka ke negeri orang Filistin

Maka berlakulah bencana kebuluran di negeri itu lain daripada kebuluran pertama yang menimpa pada zaman Abraham Maka pergilah Ishak ke Gerar untuk menghadap Abimelekh raja orang Filistin

Kata Abimelekh pula Apakah yang telah kaulakukan terhadap kami ini Mudah sahaja salah seorang warga ini meniduri isterimu sehingga dengan demikian engkau menimpakan kesalahan kepada kami

Kemudian Abimelekh memberikan perintah kepada seluruh bangsa itu katanya Sesiapa yang menyentuh orang ini atau isterinya pasti dihukum mati

Maka datanglah Abimelekh kepadanya dari Gerar bersama-sama Ahuzat sahabatnya dan Pikhol panglima tenteranya

jadi jika pada hari ini kamu setia dan tulus ikhlas kepada Yerubaal dan keturunannya maka silakanlah kamu bersukacita atas ternobatnya Abimelekh dan silakanlah dia juga bersukacita atas kamu

Berkatalah Gaal anak Ebed Abimelekh itu siapa dan kita orang Sikhem siapa untuk kita menjadi hambanya Bukankah dia anak Yerubaal dan bukankah Zebul pegawainya Merekalah hamba bani Hamor iaitu ayah Sikhem maka mengapakah kita yang menjadi hambanya
