Tuhan berfirman kepada Musa Tulislah hal ini dalam kitab sebagai peringatan dan sampaikan kepada Yosua bahawa Aku akan menghapuskan segala kenangan tentang orang Amalek dari bawah kolong langit

Maka bangkitlah Musa demikian juga Yosua penolongnya lalu Musa naik ke gunung Allah

Yosua anak Nun yang menjadi pembantu Musa sejak masa mudanya berkata Tuanku Musa cegahlah mereka

Firman Tuhan kepada Musa Panggillah Yosua anak Nun seorang yang penuh dengan Roh lalu letakkanlah tanganmu atasnya

Kemudian Musa memberikan perintah kepada Imam Eleazar Yosua anak Nun dan ketua kaum keluarga daripada suku-suku orang Israel mengenai mereka

Berikanlah perintah kepada Yosua kuatkanlah dan teguhkanlah hatinya kerana dialah yang akan memimpin bangsa ini menyeberang dan dialah yang akan memimpin mereka untuk mewarisi negeri yang akan engkau lihat itu

Lalu Yosua berkata kepada bangsa itu Sucikanlah dirimu kerana esok Tuhan akan melakukan keajaiban-keajaiban dalam kalangan kamu

Kata Yosua pula kepada para imam Angkatlah tabut perjanjian dan menyeberanglah di depan umat itu Mereka pun mengangkat tabut perjanjian dan berjalan di depan umat itu

Kemudian Tuhan berfirman kepada Yosua Pada hari ini Aku hendak mulai membesarkan engkau di mata seluruh orang Israel supaya mereka tahu bahawa sebagaimana dahulunya Aku menyertai Musa demikian jugalah Aku akan menyertai engkau
