Pada malam itu juga Firaun memanggil Musa dan Harun katanya Segeralah keluar daripada kalangan rakyatku baik kamu mahupun orang Israel Pergilah beribadatlah kepada Tuhan seperti katamu itu

Pisahkanlah bani Lewi daripada kalangan orang Israel dan sucikanlah mereka

Numbers 8:16

Hendaklah mereka diserahkan sepenuhnya kepada-Ku daripada kalangan orang Israel kerana Aku telah mengambil mereka bagi-Ku sebagai ganti semua yang lahir pertama iaitu semua anak sulung antara orang Israel

Selanjutnya Aku menyerahkan bani Lewi sebagai pemberian kepada Harun dan anak-anaknya daripada kalangan orang Israel untuk melaksanakan pekerjaan bagi orang Israel di Khemah Pertemuan dan untuk mengadakan pendamaian bagi orang Israel supaya jangan orang Israel ditimpa wabak apabila mereka mendekati tempat suci
