Sewaktu itu Musa menggembala kawanan ternakan domba kepunyaan ayah mertuanya Yitro imam di Midian dan dia menggiring ternakan itu ke daerah paling hujung di gurun lalu ke gunung Allah iaitu Horeb

Exodus 17:6

Aku akan hadir di hadapanmu di atas batu pejal di Horeb Pukullah batu pejal itu maka air akan keluar dari dalamnya sehingga bangsa itu dapat minum Lalu Musa melaksanakan hal itu di hadapan mata para tua-tua Israel

Exodus 33:6

Maka bermula dari Gunung Horeb orang Israel tidak lagi memakai barang perhiasan mereka

Tuhan Allah kita berfirman kepada kita di Horeb demikian Sudah cukup lama kamu tinggal di gunung ini
