Ada seorang lelaki yang bernama Ayub di Tanah Us Dia tidak bercela juga tulus dan takut kepada Allah serta menjauhi kejahatan

Setelah berlalunya hari-hari jamuan itu Ayub akan memanggil dan menyucikan mereka Dia akan bangun pagi-pagi dan mempersembahkan korban bakaran menurut jumlah mereka semua kerana fikir Ayub Jangan-jangan anak-anakku telah berdosa dan mengutuk Allah dalam hati mereka Demikianlah yang sentiasa dilakukan oleh Ayub

Firman Tuhan kepada Iblis Sudahkah kauperhatikan hamba-Ku Ayub Sesungguhnya tidak ada orang yang seperti dia di bumi Dia tidak bercela tulus dan takut kepada Allah serta menjauhi kejahatan Dia tetap berpegang teguh pada kesalihannya sungguhpun engkau telah menghasut Aku untuk membinasakan dia dengan tidak semena-mena

Kemudian Iblis pergi dari hadirat Tuhan Dia menimpakan Ayub dengan barah bisul yang parah dari telapak kaki sampai ke ubun-ubunnya

Khabar tentang segala malapetaka yang menimpa Ayub itu terdengar oleh ketiga-tiga orang sahabatnya iaitu Elifas orang Teman Bildad orang Suah dan Zofar orang Naama Maka mereka pun bermuafakat dan bersiap untuk pergi dari tempat masing-masing untuk berdukacita bersama-sama dia serta menyenangkan hatinya

Dia juga marah kepada ketiga-tiga sahabat Ayub kerana mereka tidak boleh menjawab Ayub namun mempersalah dia

Elihu menanti kesempatan untuk dapat berbicara kepada Ayub kerana mereka berumur lebih tua daripadanya

Tetapi sekarang wahai Ayub dengarlah kata-kataku perhatikanlah segala yang kusampaikan

Setelah Ayub berdoa untuk sahabat-sahabatnya Tuhan memulihkan keadaan mereka Kemudian Tuhan menambahkan segala milik Ayub dua kali lipat ganda dari dahulu

Setelah Ayub berdoa untuk sahabat-sahabatnya Tuhan memulihkan keadaan mereka Kemudian Tuhan menambahkan segala milik Ayub dua kali lipat ganda dari dahulu

Tuhan memberkati sisa hidup Ayub lebih daripada sebelumnya Dia memiliki 14,000 ekor kambing dan domba 6,000 ekor unta 1,000 pasang lembu dan 1,000 ekor keldai betina

Di seluruh negeri tidak ada perempuan secantik anak-anak perempuan Ayub Ayah mereka memberi mereka harta pusaka bersama-sama para saudara lelaki mereka

Setelah itu Ayub masih hidup 140 tahun lamanya Dia melihat anak cucunya sampai keturunan yang keempat

Kemudian Ayub pun meninggal ketika sudah tua dan lanjut usia

maka biarpun di negeri itu ada Nuh Daniel dan Ayub ketiga-tiga orang itu hanya akan menyelamatkan jiwa mereka sendiri atas sebab perbenaran mereka demikianlah firman Tuhan Allah
