Esther 2:3

eloklah Raja melantik para petugas di seluruh wilayah kerajaannya untuk mengumpulkan anak dara yang menarik paras rupa mereka di dalam puri Susan di balai perempuan di bawah pengawasan Hegai sida Raja yang bertugas menjaga para perempuan dan mereka hendaklah diberi segala alat solekan yang dikehendaki mereka

Esther 2:9

Gadis itu menyenangi Hegai dan memenangi hatinya Hegai segera menyediakan segala alat persolekan dan peruntukan makanannya Dia turut memberinya tujuh orang dayang pilihan dari istana raja dan memindahkan gadis itu bersama-sama dayang-dayangnya ke tempat yang terbaik di balai perempuan

Maka setiap hari Mordekhai berjalan-jalan di depan laman balai perempuan untuk mengetahui keadaan Ester dan apa yang akan terjadi kepadanya

Ketika tiba giliran seorang gadis masuk menghadap raja beginilah aturannya Apa-apa sahaja yang dimintanya haruslah diberikan kepadanya untuk dibawa dari balai perempuan ke dalam istana raja

Pada waktu petang dia akan masuk lalu pada pagi esoknya dia akan kembali ke balai perempuan kedua di bawah pengawasan Saasgas sida raja yang bertugas menjaga para gundik baginda Selanjutnya gadis itu tidak akan masuk menghadap raja lagi kecuali jika raja suka kepadanya dan dia dipanggil dengan disebutkan namanya
