Semoga Raja maklum bahawa jika kota itu dibangunkan semula dan temboknya selesai dikerjakan pastilah kalangan itu tidak akan membayar cukai ufti atau bea sehingga terjejaslah pendapatan kerajaan

Semoga penyiasatan dalam babad nenek moyang tuanku diadakan Dalam babad itu tuanku akan mengetahui bahawa kota itu sebuah kota derhaka yang merugikan raja-raja serta wilayah-wilayah dan bahawa di dalam kota itu pemberontakan sudah berlaku sejak zaman dahulu lagi Itulah sebabnya kota itu dimusnahkan

Kami ingin memaklumkan kepada Raja bahawa sekiranya kota itu siap dibangunkan semula dan temboknya selesai dikerjakan maka tuanku tidak akan ada lagi milik di daerah seberang Sungai Efrat

Atas perintahku penyiasatan telah diadakan dan didapati bahawa memang sejak zaman dahulu lagi kota itu selalu bangkit menentang raja-raja dan bahawa di tempat itu orang melakukan penderhakaan dan pemberontakan

Oleh sebab itu keluarkanlah perintah untuk menghentikan pekerjaan umat itu supaya kota itu tidak dibangunkan semula sehingga keluar perintah selanjutnya daripadaku

Semoga Raja maklum bahawa kami telah pergi ke wilayah Yehuda ke Bait Allah Yang Maha Besar Bait itu sedang dibina dengan batu yang besar-besar dan tembok-temboknya dilapisi dengan kayu Pekerjaan itu dikerjakan dengan saksama dan berjalan lancar dalam tangan mereka

Semoga Allah yang telah membuat nama-Nya bersemayam di sana menjatuhkan mana-mana raja atau orang yang mengingkari perintah ini dan menghancurkan Rumah Allah di Yerusalem itu Aku Darius memberikan perintah ini Hendaklah perintah ini dilaksanakan tepat mengikut setiap perkataannya
