Ketika mereka pergi mereka meninggalkan Yoas dalam keadaan terluka parah Pegawai-pegawainya pun kemudian bersekongkol melawannya kerana penumpahan darah anak Imam Yoyada itu lalu membunuhnya di atas tempat tidurnya Yoas mati dan dimakamkan di Kota Daud tetapi tidak di permakaman raja
