Pada waktu Izebel melenyapkan nabi-nabi Tuhan Obaja membawa seratus orang nabi lalu menyembunyikan mereka dalam dua kelompok di dalam gua lima puluh orang sekelompok dan menyediakan roti serta air untuk mereka

Ahab mengirim utusan ke seluruh orang Israel dan mengumpulkan nabi-nabi di Gunung Karmel

Kemudian Elia berkata kepada rakyat Hanya aku sendiri inilah yang masih tinggal sebagai nabi Tuhan manakala nabi-nabi Baal itu ada empat ratus lima puluh orang jumlahnya

Kemudian berkatalah Elia kepada nabi-nabi Baal itu Pilihlah seekor lembu untukmu dan olahlah lebih dahulu kerana kamu ramai jumlahnya Serulah nama tuhanmu tetapi jangan letakkan api

Kata Elia kepada mereka Tangkaplah nabi-nabi Baal itu Jangan biarkan terlepas seorang pun daripada mereka Mereka pun ditangkap lalu Elia membawa mereka turun ke Sungai Kison dan menyembelih mereka di sana

Zechariah 13:2
