Jawab Daud kepada Imam Ahimelekh Raja menugaskan aku untuk mengurus suatu perkara Titahnya kepadaku Jangan seorang pun tahu tentang urusan yang kutugaskan dan kuperintahkan kepadamu ini Oleh sebab itu kuarahkan orangku untuk pergi ke sebuah tempat

Daud berkata kepada Ahimelekh Tidak adakah padamu di sini tombak atau pedang Aku tidak membawa pedang ataupun senjata kerana urusan raja itu mendesak

Maka raja memerintahkan agar Imam Ahimelekh anak Ahitub dan seluruh keluarganya iaitu para imam di Nob datang menghadap lalu mereka pun datanglah kesemuanya menghadap raja

Jawab Ahimelekh kepada raja Tetapi siapakah antara semua pegawai tuanku yang begitu dipercayai seperti Daud Apatah lagi selain menjadi menantu raja dia juga ketua para pengawal tuanku dan dihormati di dalam istana tuanku
