Orang Israel berjalan selama empat puluh tahun di gurun sampai seluruh pejuang bangsa yang keluar dari Mesir itu habis mati kerana mereka tidak mematuhi Tuhan Kepada mereka Tuhan telah bersumpah bahawa Dia tidak akan mengizinkan mereka melihat negeri yang dijanjikan Tuhan dengan bersumpah kepada nenek moyang mereka untuk dikurniakan kepada kita iaitu sebuah negeri yang berlimpah-limpah dengan susu dan madu
